Our National hero William Wallace’s victory at Stirling Bridge echoed across Europe and down through the Centuries. Legend states that after his capture, Wallace was chained to an Oak Tree overnight at Port Glasgow as his captors awaited the arrival of English soldiers to take him to London for his show trial and execution on the 23rd of August 1305.

The Society of William Wallace allowed us to use the incredible Print that the late Andrew Hillhouse (RIP) donated to the Wallace Oak Project. The lyrics on the back are from: “I’m Coming Home” with the kind permission of our friend and great singer/songwriter, Ted Christopher. Ted wrote and later performed the song at William Wallace’s Funeral on the 23rd of August 2005 in London on the 700th Anniversary of Wallace's death.

In 1992 the Wallace Oak came down in a storm. Cha Halliday, Sean Donnelly (RIP), Neil Lochiel and Stuart Duncan started fundraising to erect a memorial at the spot where the Wallace Oak stood.  On the 23rd of October 2021, the memorial was unveiled at the Holy Family Church in Port Glasgow - huge thanks to all those named above and to you.

If you ever attend the Battle of Stirling Bridge Memorial, “I’m Coming Home’ is performed by Ted as we lower the old flag and raise a new Saltire for the year ahead. We hope you love your Wallace Oak T-Shirt/Hoodie as much as we do and thank you for your order and kind donation to the Wallace Oak which will now help to maintain the memorial.

Donations from our Wallace Oak design and purchases of Pieces of the Wallace Oak have seen £782 donated to the Society of William Wallace. Steven has been a member of the Society for 12 years.

Walk with Wallace in song and story by purchasing this iconic T-shirt/hoodie. Thank you.
